CC's Ambassador Location Closes Friday

Lafayette's first modern chain coffee shop will close for good Friday.  Community Coffee's CC's Coffee House is not renewing the lease on the space it's occupied on Ambassador Caffery (across from Charlie G's, near Broadmoor Blvd.).  Company representatives tell me they're scouting the area for a new location, but nothing is final yet.  Most of the locations the company has recently built in Lafayette and Baton Rouge have included drive thru service.  The Ambassador location was not set up for that configuration.

CC's has been extremely successful here, with five locations in Lafayette - not including multiple kiosks around the city.  I believe the local chain's market share was a factor when Starbucks decided to close a number of newly-built stores in Lafayette last year.

Before CC's opened in the late '90s, I know a few local coffee shops were in business in Lafayette (Cafe Cottage, Cornwell's, what was the name of the place where Papa John's is now across from UL?).

  1. If I am not mistaken, Starbucks only closed one Lafayette location(Verot&Pinhook) and opened two new stores(Amb&Settlers Trace & Louisiana Ave.).

  2. You're right. My memory must have been mixed up. Starbucks closed 8 Baton Rouge locations, but only one Lafayette location.

  3. And before Cafe 101 it was CD Cafe (so named because they let customers buy and trade used CDs).
